South Park is hitting mobile, as Ubisoft took to E3 2017 to announce the upcoming South Park: Phone Destroyer mobile game later this year.
The quirky kids of South Park have been making waves with their sassy humor for more than two decades and now they’re ready to conquer another platform beyond the TV, PC and consoles.
The upcoming mobile game will bring the world of South Park to the small screen, launching on both Android and iOS.
Ubisoft released a trailer at E3 to tease the South Park: Phone Destroyer mobile game, but it doesn’t offer too many details. The description, however, fills some of the blanks and offers a glimpse of what to expect.
South Park: Phone Destroyer — What To Expect
The upcoming South Park: Phone Destroyer will feature all of the South Park characters we’ve come to know and love, brought together in a real-time strategy game packed with action and exciting PvP battles, collectible cards and, of course, the delicious South Park humor one would expect.
Players will assume the role of the New Kid from The Stick of Truth and will be able to form teams to fight various factions such as cowboys, wizards, cyborgs, clerics, cops, and others.
South Park: Phone Destroyer is currently under development at Ubisoft studio RedLynx. The mobile game will be free to play, but users will be able to acquire new cards to upgrade their team and compete against others in the multiplayer mode.
“South Park: Phone Destroyer brings you iconic South Park characters in a new action-packed real-time strategy mobile title! Enjoy fierce PvP battles, a huge single player story, trademark South Park humor, and collectible cards in a perfect mix,” says Ubisoft. “Assemble the ultimate team of cowboys, wizards, cyborgs and more — and get ready to crush your opponent!”
“Fight epic real-time PvP battles and experience a hilarious single player story developed in collaboration with South Park Digital Studios,” touts the description on the game’s website.
South Park Mobile Game Coming Later This Year
Ubisoft has yet to offer a specific release date for South Park: Phone Destroyer, but says that the mobile game will be out later this year for Android and iOS. Another game based on the popular show, South Park: Fractured But Whole, is slated to hit consoles and PC this fall, on Oct. 17. The mobile game could roll out around the same time, or sometime later in the year. Either way, South Park: Phone Destroyer should hit the scene before the holidays.
A soft launch for South Park: Phone Destroyer allows fans in Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark to try out an early version of the game, but no other markets have access to it at this point. Developers should be able to work out the kinks of the game through this limited soft launch, then expand its availability.
As always, we’ll keep you up to date with more information as soon as it becomes available. In the meantime, check out the trailer below to get an idea of what South Park: Phone Destroyer will bring to the table.
