Publisher Paradox Interactive announced a new management-based strategy game, which is all about colonizing Mars. Titled Surviving Mars, the game is under development from Haemimont Games — the studio behind some titles in the Tropica series.
On Friday, May 12, the publisher revealed a teaser trailer for Surviving Mars on its official YouTube channel. The trailer offers a glimpse into how the strategy game would play out.
What Is Surviving Mars All About
According to a press release from Paradox Interactive, Surviving Mars would task gamers to strategize and construct a colony on the Red Planet’s surface. Players would have to balance gathering resources, maintaining physical and mental well-being of the colonists, and surviving the planet’s overall harsh conditions.
“Surviving Marslets you understand what your colonists are dealing with on an individual level, and coming up with creative plans for those needs will be a new challenge for our fans,” CEO of Haemimont Games Gabriel Dobrev remarked.
Surviving Mars will begin with the first spacecrafts landing on the Red Planet. Gamers will have to strategize each move so that the early colonists can thrive in the hostile environment. Resources needed to be build and the player is required to maintain basic amenities, which would be scarce. However, after successful completion of each task and developmental efforts, players will be rewarded and would be able to expand their Martian colony.
Haemimont Games And Paradox Interactive Come Together
Paradox Interactive is a well-known video game publisher. The company’s Pillars of Eternity and Stellaris are well-known titles. Paradox’s CEO Fredrik Wester revealed that the publisher wanted to collaborate with Haemimont Games for a long time and with Surviving Mars, this dream has become a reality.
“Finding a developer who shares our core design tenets is always gratifying, but with Haemimont and Surviving Mars we’re going to be giving our players a new experience that’s uniquely their own, and I’m looking forward to hearing the tales of triumph and catastrophe from our community,” Wester shared.
Fans too seemed to share the enthusiasm of the creators and the Surviving Mars trailer on YouTube was well-received.
“Finally I can make some REAL Prussian space marines,” a gamer wrote on YouTube.
The developer and publisher seem to have captured the attention of gamers with the announcement. It remains to be seen whether they can retain this level of interest for Surviving Mars.
The game will be released for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. However, the developer and the publisher are yet to reveal a definite release date or schedule.
