Whenever WhatsApp Goes Down, The Internet Goes Crazy: Here Are The Reactions This Time Around

WhatsApp going down and, as a result, the internet going crazy seem to be turning into a regular thing.

Back in 2016, hilarity with a mix of panic ensued when the messaging app went offline, and this 2017, the reactions are more or less the same.

Internet’s Reactions To WhatsApp’s 2-Hour Downtime

Millions of users across the globe rely on WhatsApp to stay in touch with their friends and family, and with just a slight hiccup, most of them took things to Twitter to vent their frustration — or rather, make jokes — about the situation.

Fortunately for a lot of people, they just slept through the whole ordeal, though.

Don’t Worry, WhatsApp Is Now Back Online

To be clear, WhatsApp is already back to normal again, so there’s no reason to panic anymore.

“Earlier today, WhatsApp users in all parts of the world were unable to access WhatsApp for a few hours. We have now fixed the issue and apologize for the inconvenience,” WhatsApp told Reuters.

For the record, WhatsApp’s downtime lasted from around 4:50 p.m. ET until about 7 p.m. ET, and in just approximately two hours, a ton of users already flooded Twitter with more jokes than complaints, which is good news for the social media platform, though.

Considering WhatsApp’s massive user base, this shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. After all, the messaging app did hit the 1-billion mark in February 2016, and the new Instagram Stories clone called WhatsApp Status already has over 175 million users.
